MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The District Council Muzaffarabad has unanimously approved its annual budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26, amounting to Rs41 crore.
The budget meeting, chaired by Chairman Sardar Imtiaz Ahmed Abbasi, prioritized transparency, development, and public relief.
The Chairman emphasized that each union council will receive an equal share of funds to ensure balanced development across the district.
The budget aims to implement a digital system and online receipt system to ensure transparency in financial transactions.
The district council said that the budget is aimed at focusing on improving infrastructure, sanitation, and lighting arrangements, as well as providing clean water in rural and urban areas.
The budget meeting discussed various development schemes, including increasing local revenue by regularizing the toll system, vehicle depots, and signboards.
The suggestion also included implementing a digital system and an online receipt system for transparency in the budget. They discussed to prioritize building and improving roads to enhance connectivity.
“Upgrading the sanitation system to improve public health,” the meeting added.
Chairman Sardar Imtiaz Ahmed Abbasi assured that the budget is a trust of the people and that every penny will be spent properly.
He emphasized that public relief, infrastructure improvement, and a modern financial system will be the top priorities of the district council during the next financial year.
Several important resolutions were approved during the meeting, with detailed plans and implementation systems to be finalized in the next meeting. The district council is committed to ensuring that the budget is utilized effectively to benefit the people of Muzaffarabad.
