NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): Students from illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir continue to face discrimination and insecurity due to which there has been a significant decrease in admissions of Kashmiri students across India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a report by the Indian newspaper, New Indian Express, has revealed that the number of Kashmiri students, studying in the state of Uttarakhand, has recorded a decrease of about 67 percent.

According to the report, a few years ago, the number of Kashmiri students, studying in the state, was about 6,000, which has now decreased to about 2,000.

Harassment against Kashmiri students

After the Pulwama incident in 2019, incidents of discrimination and harassment against Kashmiri students have increased rapidly. Some Kashmiri students and businessmen have also decided to move to other states or drop out of education due to insecurity.

Experts say that in the current political environment, trends of division on religious and ethnic grounds are increasing, the effects of which are also reaching educational institutions.

According to critics, questions are being raised about the policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, while the government has been denying these allegations.
