MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A disturbing incident of violence has been reported in the Education Department of the University of Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, where a group of students allegedly tortured a disabled student.
The hooligans beat a fellow student with sticks and kicks, leaving him severely injured. The situation was only diffused after the female students intervened and rescued the victim.
The incident has sparked fear among students, who are now requesting intervention from the Vice Chancellor and law enforcement agencies to ensure their safety.
The university students said that those involved in the incident are reportedly backed by some professors, creating a culture of fear and intimidation in the department.
Furthermore, it has been learnt that the Head of the Department has been accused of being reluctant to take action against the group, allowing the situation to escalate.
The students are demanding protection from the university administration and law enforcement agencies to ensure their safety and continuation of studies.
The students have appealed to the Vice Chancellor and law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to protect them from the “hooligan elements” and professors who support them. They are concerned that the situation may worsen if not addressed promptly.
