Despite PM’s assurance, a faction of AJK teachers to hold protest today

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has, in principle, agreed to the demand for upgradation of teachers scales and expressed his resolve to resolve the matter soon but still a faction of teachers has announced to stage protest today.

According to details, a representative delegation of teachers, accompanied by Minister for Physical Planning and Housing Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, held an important meeting with Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq at Kashmir House Islamabad on Sunday.

During the meeting, the long-standing demand for teachers upgradation was discussed in detail.

The Prime Minister, in principle, agreed to the demand for upgradation of teachers scales and expressed his resolve to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

It was decided in the meeting that a four-member representative delegation of teachers will meet with relevant officials at the Civil Secretariat tomorrow, July 15, to review all aspects and finally resolve this long-standing issue.

Teacher organizations have praised this positive step by the Prime Minister and expressed hope that the government will continue practical measures for the betterment of the education sector.

It is to be noted that on July 14, teachers had announced a protest in Muzaffarabad and caravans from all over Azad Kashmir were instructed to reach the lake city.

According to sources, one faction of teachers met with the Prime Minister, while the other announced a protest today at all costs and said that they will protest until the notification is issued.

According to sources, one group, led by Tasaf Shaheen, will protest today.
