CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): The online “Delete Facebook” campaign by users around the world has intensified after Meta announced a new privacy update related to artificial intelligence.
According to Meta, under the new update, the platform will use data from users’ conversations with chatbots to improve its AI systems.
The company says that this content will only be used for training AI models and making personalized recommendations, but will not apply to users’ private chats, conversations with friends and family, or encrypted messages.
Users reacted strongly on social media after the announcement, with several people alleging that Meta will now be able to access users’ photos, voice, texts, and AI chats and use them for analysis, and started the “Delete Facebook” campaign.
Many users claimed that the new policy raises concerns about the misuse of their private information.
Meta said in its explanatory statement that the platform will not use sensitive information, such as religious beliefs, health, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or other personal background, for analytics or ad targeting.
The company also clarified that when using AI through voice, the microphone will only be activated with the user’s permission, and a clear indication will remain on the screen during this time.
