WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): The White House has restored access for three major US media outlets CNN, MSNBC and Politico after the organizations challenged restrictions on their journalists’ entry.
US President Donald Trump had previously barred representatives of the three news organizations from entering the White House, following a dispute over a social media post. Trump had accused the outlets of spreading false information about his administration.
The restrictions prompted several major US television networks to protest by limiting their coverage of the president in response to the restrictions imposed on the three media organizations.
According to foreign media reports, CNN, MSNBC and Politico again approached the court over the White House restrictions.
The White House had previously declined to allow the three outlets access despite a court order. However, the White House Director of Press Operations has now submitted a statement to the court confirming that full media access has been restored.
The development allows journalists from CNN, MSNBC and Politico to resume access to the White House as part of the regular media pool.
