JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): A cloudburst in the Nardajian area of Jhelum Valley has caused overflow in the Kazinag Nullah and disruption of power supply in the area.
The situation led to the closure of the hydel power station Kathai and the Chamfall hydropower project as a precautionary measure.
The closure has resulted in power outages in dozens of areas, including Chinari.
According to Arshad Baig, in charge of the Kathai power house, the electricity will be restored once the water level in the Kazinag Nullah decreases and debris is removed.
The floodwater from the Nullah is joining the Jhelum River and flowing towards Muzaffarabad, causing a rise in the water level of the river.
Heavy rain has also been reported in surrounding areas, including Hatian Bala, and the situation is being closely monitored, the district administration said.
