RAWALPindi (Kashmir English): A farewell ceremony was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters in honour of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza (NI, NI (M)), in which he was felicitated for his 40 years of distinguished military service.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the three armed forces, including the former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
On his arrival, a smart and well-dressed tri-services contingent presented a guard of honour to General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
In his address, the outgoing Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee thanked Allah Almighty for the opportunity to discharge his duties with integrity, professionalism, and sincerity.
He paid tribute to the great sacrifices made by the armed forces in the defence of the motherland and paid tribute to the martyrs and their families.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza said that in the current geo-strategic environment, strong national defence is the main pillar of national security.
He reiterated the resolve that Pakistan’s defense is impregnable and our brave officers and soldiers are always ready to make it stronger.
