ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): China has announced an additional package worth 100 million yuan in flood relief supplies to further support Pakistan’s ongoing efforts in disaster relief and post-flood reconstruction.

In a statement posted on X, the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad said that this assistance is in addition to the earlier $2 million in emergency aid that was promptly provided following the devastating floods in Pakistan.

This assistance reflects China’s unwavering commitment to stand by Pakistan in testing times, highlighting the enduring friendship and all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations, state-run APP reported.

The new relief package will include essential supplies aimed at helping affected communities recover from the widespread damage caused by the natural disaster.

Earlier, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its rapid needs assessment report stated that the monsoon floods affected 4.2 million people and displaced nearly 2.8 million in Punjab.

During this monsoon season, according to PDMA Punjab, some 4.7 million people are reportedly affected across 28 districts in Punjab.

About 161,700 houses were damaged, of which 28% were fully damaged and 72% were partially damaged.
