BARNALA (Kashmir English): Former Chairman of the Zakat and Ushr Department and famous political and social figure, Chaudhry Adalat Khan, was shot dead in Barnala, Bhimber district, on Thursday.
Chaudhry Adalat Khan was returning from the Barnala Katcheri when unknown armed men suddenly opened fire on him near Pingali Mor in the jurisdiction of Moil Police Station, killing him on the spot.
A woman passing nearby was also injured by two bullets during the firing and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical assistance.
As soon as the incident was reported, police personnel reached the spot and started the investigation by cordoning off the area.
According to the police, the investigation into the incident and the search for the accused are ongoing.
Chaudhry Adalat was also the Chief Organizer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the LA-5 constituency in Barnala.
