ISLAMABAD: Changan Pakistan has announced revised retail prices of some of its car models with a substantial increase following the recent hike by the government in sales tax and the newly introduced levy on vehicles.

According to the details, Master Changan Motor Limited has jacked up prices of Oshan X7, Alsvin, Karvaan, and Sherpa lines, increasing from Rs 45,000 to Rs 200,000.

The Changan makers said that the revision came after the budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26, in which a new Carbon Support Levy on vehicles was introduced.

The price of  Changan Oshan X7, both FS variants (5- and 7-seater), increased by Rs200,000. Similarly, all variants of the Alsvin sedan line also hiked by Rs 90,000 to Rs 100,000.

The Karvaan Power Plus 1.2 now costs Rs 50,000 more, and the Sherpa Power 1.2 is priced Rs 45,000 higher.

Climate Support Levy

The federal government has imposed a new one-time tax on vehicles that produce tailpipe emissions.

The climate support levy applies to all new ICE and hybrid vehicles, while fully electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) that can travel over 50 kilometers on battery power are exempt.

The levy rates:

  • 1 per cent for vehicles up to 1300cc
  • 2 per cent for vehicles between 1301cc and 1800cc
  • 3 per cent for vehicles above 1800cc
