ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), Syed Qamar Raza, has clarified that his contact with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) was a personal initiative for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing situation.
In a statement shared on social media, Qamar Raza said that a “press release issued by JAAC distorted a well-meaning and well-intended personal initiative” that was a result of my desire to bring a peaceful resolution.
He said that, as chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, he considers the welfare of the Pakistani diaspora and addressing their concerns as my priority, adding that he contacted the Action Committee to refrain them from violence.
“As Chairman of the Overseas Pakistani Foundation, who has the welfare of the Pakistani diaspora at his heart, and mitigation of their concerns, whether real or imaginary, as my priority, I made contact with JAAC to convince them to turn back from violence,” he was quoted as saying.

Furthermore, Raza said that most of the committee members responded logically to the proposal for a peaceful solution.
However, he added, some elements are attempting to use this initiative for “cheap media gratification”.
“I represented my people and my organization. My mandate was my love for this land and its inhabitants, and nothing will deter me from pursuing that,” he concluded.
