KARACHI (Kashmir English): BYD Pakistan has officially launched the BYD Shark 6, the country’s first plug-in hybrid pickup truck, bringing a major innovation to Pakistan’s automotive market.
The unveiling took place at a special event in Karachi, where industry professionals, media, and auto enthusiasts witnessed the futuristic vehicle firsthand.
“This is not just a hybrid upgrade,” said Danish Khaliq, Vice President Sales and Strategy at BYD Pakistan, during the launch event. “This is a major leap forward in sustainable transportation. The Shark 6 is designed so that the electric motor carries the primary load, while the internal combustion engine functions mainly as support.”
He added that the new vehicle addresses a gap in the market for high-performance, environmentally friendly pickup trucks, particularly for customers already familiar with BYD’s global portfolio.
Powerful Hybrid Performance
The BYD Shark 6 runs on a 1.5-liter petrol engine combined with dual electric motors, supported by BYD’s innovative Blade battery. It delivers an impressive 321 kW (436 horsepower) and 650 Nm of torque, making it one of the most powerful pickups in its class. The truck can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
Electric Range and Fuel Efficiency
One of the key highlights of the BYD Shark 6 is its ability to drive up to 100 km on electric power alone. When combined with the petrol engine, it offers a total range of up to 800 kilometers, providing both efficiency and peace of mind for long-distance travel.
Modern Features and Off-Road Capability
Built on BYD’s Dual Mode Off-Road (DMO) platform, the Shark 6 includes driving modes for mud, sand, and snow, making it suitable for all kinds of terrain. It also features a rotating infotainment display, blind spot monitoring, fatigue detection, NFC keyless entry, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality—letting users power tools or devices directly from the truck.
BYD Shark 6 Pricing and Launch Date
The BYD Shark 6 is priced at PKR 19.95 million. Bookings officially opened on July 25, 2025, and the first deliveries are expected to begin in September 2025.
Targeting Market Leaders
With its launch, the BYD Shark 6 aims to challenge well-established diesel pickups like the Toyota Hilux Revo and Isuzu D-Max, offering buyers a cleaner, more advanced alternative.
