ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Senior journalist Talat Hussain has said, citing security sources, that the recent attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in Balochistan actually appear as armed operations, but in reality they were “content production operations”.
In a statement released on X, Talat Hussain said that the aim of these attacks was not to achieve any military victory, but to create propaganda videos through social media and convey a specific narrative to the public.
He said that according to security sources, the patterns of such attacks are being analyzed so that possible threats and strategies can be properly assessed in the future.
” Assessments shared with media persons show that despite mobile data being shut down in many areas, the BLA managed to upload videos of their attacks using satellite uplinks, specifically portable broadband terminals capable of 1 Mbps uplink speed and 38 hours of standby time,” Talat Hussain said.
He also added, while quoting the security sources, “One captured militant confessed that his explicit objective was to raise the BLA flag at the FC HQs at any cost & record it for online dissemination. The sources also say that the attacks & their media projection was aimed at targeting the Baloch diaspora in Europe and the Gulf.”
He added that “In the words of one expert who wished not to be identified, “this is a war not just on borders, but across cameras and the cloud.”
