MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur decided to form a committee to conduct re-checking and a detailed review of the recent e-marking process after the board faced backlash and objections over the HSSC Part-I 2025 result.

In a press release issued on Monday, the competent authority said that it has formally sent a proposal to the Secretary of Higher Education, AJK government, to form a committee to prevent attempts to tarnish the board’s reputation due to baseless and untrue news circulating on social media.

The board has revealed that the committee will conduct re-checking of the marked answer copies of the five subjects — Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Computer Science — of the recent Intermediate First Annual 2025 Part I result.

For this purpose, the BISE Mirpur has recommended forming a committee comprising educationists from the three divisions — Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, and Rawalakot. The committee includes one highly qualified and experienced professor/subject expert from each subject.

Furthermore, it added that the committee will examine the quality of e-marketing and suggest recommendations on all matters. The committee will submit its report within a week, the press release added.

Earlier, the Mirpur education board came under fire after the newly introduced e-marking system sparked outrage among students and parents following a significant drop in exam results and the tragic suicide of a high-achieving student.

According to reports, Syed Haseeb Sabir, a first-year student from Sharian, Jhelum Valley, allegedly took his own life after receiving unexpectedly low marks, failing one subject. He was a topper at the Government Boys High School, Sharian, in the 2024 Matriculation examination.

Many previously outstanding students received unusually low marks, and several papers were reportedly checked out of the syllabus, the students claimed.

Sources said that the intermediate results were delayed by over two months without any explanation. The Mirpur Board implemented the new e-marking system without preparation or prior notice, which affected thousands of students. Teachers have also raised questions about the e-checking procedure.
