Bhimber locals receive first aid training for snakebites under army supervision

BHIMBER (Kashmir English):  A civil-military cooperation awareness session about the snake venom prevention, necessary medical assistance and measures were conducted by Army doctors and a team at a community gathering in the Samahni sector of the Line of Control(LoC).

A rescue squad has been established in Union Council Baghsar Bandala under the management of a local unit of the Pakistan Army for the prevention of venomous snakes and immediate treatment of venom during the recent monsoon, summer and rainy seasons.

Snake venom rescue squads have been established in Bandala, Mehtaka and Nali. In this regard, a session was organised by the medical unit of the Pak Army in Bandala. The session was attended by the people of the district.

The doctors of the local unit of the Pak Army provided awareness to the people about snake bites, snake prevention and immediate medical assistance. During the lectures and practical exercises, the doctors said that some snakes are non-venomous and some snakes are poisonous.

If the patient’s condition worsens after a snake bite, the patient should immediately contact the nearest hospital or rescue squad, avoid using  home remedies.

The awareness session includes the instruction which are as follow:

  • The patient should be consoled.
  • Use a flashlight while travelling at night.
  • Complete surveillance of homes should be maintained.

On this occasion, the Pak Army also provided emergency kits to the people regarding snake bites. The people of the area paid gratitude to the Pakistan Army for the session and establishing the rescue squad.
