ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday announced that branches of all commercial banks will remain open on February 28, Saturday, to facilitate taxpayers.
“The Saturday branches of all commercial banks (including NBP branches handling customs collection) shall remain open from 09:00 A.M. to 01:00 P.M on Saturday to facilitate taxpayers in making over-the-counter (OTC) payment of government duties and taxes,” the statement.
The central bank said that the decision was made at the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
It added that banks have advised to keep their “concerned branches open on February 28, 2026, for as long as required to facilitate the Special Clearing for Government transactions conducted by NIFT.”
“The banks shall also ensure uninterrupted availability of their online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to facilitate the online payment of government duties and taxes,” the statement reads.
Earlier, the State Bank issued new timings for all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks across the country for public dealings during the month of Ramzan 2026.
In a post on social media accounts, the central bank said that banks will operate from 9 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday, without any break. On Fridays, banking hours will run from 9 am to 12:30 pm.
