Ban imposed on sale of sub-standard food items in Bhimber

BHIMBER (Kashmir Digital): Deputy Commissioner Bhimber Chaudhry Haq Nawaz has banned the sale of food items injurious for the health of children, in the district.

Samahni, Barnala, and other adjoining areas are among the localities seeing ban on unhygienic food items, especially those affecting the health of children.

Sub-standard food items

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner office, the officials have observed that various substandard food items including ice cream, kulfi, beverages, snacks, toffees, chocolates, and unregistered water, are being sold across the district.

Due to the sale and consumption of these substandard and harmful items, children are falling victim to various diseases.

Deputy Commissioner Bhimber, as District Magistrate, exercised the powers vested in him under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code and imposed a ban on the sale of harmful items.

“No person shall sell substandard ice cream, kulfi, beverages, etc. which are not registered with the Punjab Food Authority, within the limits of Bhimber District, nor shall they encourage any other person to do so,” read the notification/

The order warned if any trader is found violating the order, action will be taken against him under Section 188 APC. This order shall be effective for two months from the date of issue.
