MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a bid to curb illegal land transfers and protect government properties, District Magistrate Muzaffarabad Mudassar Farooq has imposed a ban under Section 144 on the sales and transfer of Khalsa Sarkar and other lands.
The ban, which came into effect on March 18, prohibits the sale or transfer of Khalsa Sarkar land and Shamlat Deh in Muzaffarabad district, including undivided and Kahcharai land, through affidavits, according to the notification issued on Tuesday.
The decision was made in response to the rampant illegal transfer of Khalsa Sarkar lands and other government and Shamilat properties through false stamp papers and fraudulent means.
The notification stated that these activities have not only created complications for innocent people but also led to a series of quarrels and litigations among the public. ‘The illegal occupation of government lands around roads, bridges, and highways posed a danger to the public,” the notification read.
Considering these illegal activities, the district magistrate has imposed the ban for next two month under Section 144, during which time all stamp paper vendors and petition writers will also be prohibited from engaging in land sale or transfer activities.
The District Magistrate has exercised his powers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to prevent the theft of government land and valuables through fraudulent means, the notification read.
