ISA TOWN, Bahrain (Kashmir English): Hosts Bahrain thrashed Pakistan 3-1 to clinch the AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup title here at the Isa Bin Reshid Hall on Tuesday.
The final match got off to a contrasting start as Pakistan secured the first set by 25-23, taking an early advantage.
However, the home side immediately hit back and won the next set in a dominating fashion, allowing Pakistan to score only 16 points.
Pakistan is ranked 43rd in the world while the host team is ranked 54th.
The Pakistan team could not live up to expectations in the final.
Bahrain won the second set 25-16, the third 25-17, and the fourth set 25-18.
Asian Volleyball Championship 2026
According to the decision of the Asian Volleyball Confederation, the winning team of the event became eligible to participate in the Asian Volleyball Championship 2026.
Earlier, there was consideration to postpone the final on security grounds after Iranian missile attacks on an Air Base. However, after strong assurances from the host government and federation, the final was held.
Nevertheless, after Bahrain closed its airspace, the return of participating teams to their countries has been delayed.
On the other hand, Qatar defeated Korea 3-0 to secure third position in the tournament.
