LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam has equaled an unwanted record in T20 Internationals.
Babar Azam was dismissed for a duck off the second ball of the tri-nation T20 series match against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
This was the 10th time he returned to the pavilion for zero in T20 Internationals, and thus he jointly equaled the record of Pakistani batsmen who were dismissed for zero 10 times in 84 matches with Saim Ayub and Umar Akmal.
According to the record, Umar Akmal achieved the honor of being dismissed for zero 10 times in 84 matches.
Saim Ayub repeated this ‘feat’ in 55 matches, while Babar Azam added his place to the list by returning to the pavilion for zero 10 times in 135 matches.
Although Pakistan lost that match to Sri Lanka by 6 runs, they had already qualified for the final. Pakistan will now face Sri Lanka in the final on Saturday.
Earlier, sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in a final over thriller (Pak vs SL) by six runs to secure a spot in the final of the tri-nation series.
Pakistan managed to score 178 runs with the loss of seven wickets.
Captain Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten on 63. Usman Khan scored 33, and Mohammad Nawaz scored 27.
The final of the Tri-Nation Series will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Saturday.
Earlier, in the sixth match of the tri-nation series, Sri Lanka set a target of 185 runs for Pakistan to win.
According to the details, Pakistan won the toss and decided to field, on which Sri Lanka scored 184 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Kamil Mishra played an excellent batting innings of 76 runs, while Kusal Perera scored 40, Liyanage scored 24, and Shanaka scored 17 runs.
Abrar Ahmed took 2 wickets, Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub took one wicket each.
Two changes have been made in the national team. Abrar Ahmed and Salman Mirza have been included in the squad in place of Naseem Shah and Usman Tariq.
