ABBOTTABAD (Kashmir English): National Test team captain Babar Azam expressed deep frustration upon getting out during a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match, slamming his bat onto the pitch in anger.

Representing Lahore Region Whites, Babar reacted this way on the fourth day of a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold (2026-27) match against Federal Areas Region.

Lahore Region Whites faced a challenging target of 412 runs in their second innings. Babar Azam was dismissed after scoring 42 runs off 77 balls, an innings that included six boundaries.

In the 34th over, bowled by Shahid Aziz, Babar attempted to play the ball toward the slip region; however, the fielder stationed there took the catch, sending him back to the pavilion.

Clearly unhappy with his dismissal, Babar Azam slammed his bat onto the pitch as he walked back toward the pavilion.

This was not the first instance in this match where Babar Azam showed displeasure upon being dismissed.

Earlier, on the second day during the first innings, he had also appeared dissatisfied with an umpire’s decision.

Facing the final ball of the 28th over from fast bowler Afaq Afridi, Babar Azam opted to leave the delivery, which was then collected by wicketkeeper Rehan Afridi. Following an appeal from the bowler, the umpire declared him out.

Azam, clearly unhappy with the ruling, gestured toward his thigh pad—implying that the ball had struck his pad rather than his bat. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 28 runs off 40 balls; his innings included 6 fours.

Azam’s return to domestic cricket follows a disappointing performance in the recently concluded ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka.

In 5 matches, he scored 118 runs at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 74.21, failing to register a single half-century. His scores were 45, 34, 10, 29, and a duck (zero) in the final against Sri Lanka.
