Azad Kashmir Weather: Rains, haze and gusty winds expected

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Weather Update for Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Azad Kashmir weather today is overall stormy, rainy, cloudy and hazy.

Previously, the weather in AJK was mostly mostly rainy throughout the region.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain and snowfall until March 2, prompting authorities to warn residents and tourists about travel disruptions and extreme cold.  

According to the Meteorological Department Pakistan weather alert, the powerful westerly weather system will bombard upper regions with heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gales along with snow accumulation.

Rainfall/Snowfall Warning: The weather is rainy, cloudy and hazy. Winds are light and fluctuating; stormy weather is to be expected.

Landslide Risk: There can be a high risk of landslides as rain and snow are expected.

Fog Advisory: Dense fog may reduce visibility in the early mornings and late evenings, affecting travel. Winds are light, especially in the Azad Kashmir area, and are hazy and fluctuating.

 

Azad Kashmir Weather:

In Azad Kashmir today the rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain for the afternoon. A high of 62F with winds SSE at 5 to 10mph is observed. The chance of rain is at a whopping 70 per cent. For the night rain is expected with a low of near 55F. Winds will be ESE at 5 to 10mph. The chance of rain is 80 per cent. Rainfall near half an inch is expected.

As of current the chances of precipitation is 0 per cent. Humidity is at 50 per cent, and wind is 3mph.

Regional Weather Details:

Muzaffarabad:

The capital faces occasional light rain. A high of 61F with winds that are light and variable is observed. The chance of rain is at a whopping 100 per cent. Rain is likely during the night too. A low of 52F with winds that are light and variable is expected. The chance of rain stands at a high 100 per cent during the night too. Rainfall near an inch is expected. 

Neelum Valley:

Neelum Valley is cloudy with rain and snow this morning, that will be changing to all rain for the afternoon. A high 42F is observed with winds that are light and variable. The chance of rain is at a whopping 100 per cent. For the night Neelum Valley will be cloudy with snow, and a low of 36F. Winds will be light and variable with a 100 per cent chance of snow at night making the weather even colder.

Rawalakot:
Rawalakot faces periods of rain and a high of 52F. Winds are ENE at 5 to 10mph. The chance of rain is 90 per cent and rainfall near a quarter of an inch is expected. Cloudy weather with periods of rain is expected for the night. A low of 44F with light and variable winds is expected. The chance of rain is at 100 per cent. The rainfall may reach one inch.

Bagh:
Bagh faces rainy weather. A high of 57F with light and variable winds is observed. The chance of rain is at a whopping 100 per cent. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch is expected as it rains. The night will be cloudy with periods of rain. A low of around 50F with light and variable winds is expected. The chance of rain is a massive 100 per cent. Rainfall near an inch is expected.

Kotli:

The weather in Kotli is rainy and hazy. A high of 64F with light and variable winds is expected. The chance of rain is 80 per cent. During the night, again, rain with a low 56F is expected. Winds will be light and variable. The chance of rain is 90 per cent. Rainfall near an inch is expected.

AJK will experience a mix of rainy, hazy and cloudy conditions with varying cool temperatures. Residents are advised to dress warmly, especially in higher-altitude areas, and carry umbrellas in regions expecting showers. Travellers to Neelum Valley and other high-altitude areas should remain cautious of road closures or landslides in case of snow showers or rain. Tourists are encouraged to stay safe and plan their activities accordingly.
