MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has requested the federal government to provide funds for the establishment of a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in the state.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Makri Intake Weir and Installation of Digital Flow Metering System in Muzaffarabad today, the premier said that the AJK government has taken steps to establish the CTD within its very limited resources, but additional funding was required for an effective response to terrorism.
“We request the federal government to provide funds for the establishment of the department to deal with terror in the state,” he said.
Talking about the recent operation against terrorists in Rawalakot, the premier said that police personnel have saved Azad Kashmir from sabotage by sacrificing their lives.
Earlier last night, the Azad Kashmir Police conducted a major operation against terrorists in the forests of Rawalakot, resulting in the killing of four terrorists. During the operation, two police personnel were martyred and five others were injured.
IGP AJK Rana Abdul Jabbar said that seven people who facilitated these terrorists have also been arrested.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister has reiterated that the only reason behind the existence of the state of Azad Kashmir was our brothers and sisters of occupied Kashmir, who are reeling under India’s belligerent military occupation.
Addressing the ceremony, the PM reaffirmed that the very foundation of Azad Kashmir lies in its unwavering commitment to the cause of the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
He further stated that the Pakistan army has destroyed India’s pride by delivering a tooth-crushing response to the enemy under the operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
The prime minister also praised the civil and military leadership of Pakistan for their exemplary role that led to Pakistan’s decisive victory against the enemy on both political and military fronts.
Government Ministers Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Mian Abdul Waheed, Chaudhry Yasir Sultan, and former Advisor to the Government Raja Mubashir Ijaz were also accompanying the Prime Minister.
