MUZAFFARABAD: The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday announced the public holidays for the year 2025.
The list of the holidays was announced with the approval of AJK President Barrister Chaudhry.
According to the new notification, these holidays will be observed on national, religious, and special occasions.
This will include a holiday on the 5th of February, 2025, for Kashmir solidarity day. On 23rd of March, 2025, for Pakistan day, and on the 30th of March, 31st of March, and 1st of April for Eid-ul-Fitr, resulting in a three-day holiday for the auspicious occasion.
Similarly, Labour Day will be observed on the 1st of May, while Youm-e-Takbeer will be marked on the 28th of the month of May.
Eid-ul-Azha holiday will be observed on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of June, again marking a three-day holiday for the holy celebration of Eid.
Youm-e-Ashura will be observed on the 5th and 6th of July, and the holiday for Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Kasmir will be observed on the 13th of July.
Similarly, Youm-e-Ilhaq Pakistan will be observed on the 19th of July, the death anniversary of Ghazi-e-Millat Sardar Ibrahim Khan on the 31st of July.
Pakistan’s Independence Day will be celebrated on the 14th of August.
The holidays for Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on either the 5th or the 6th of September, depending on the sighting of the moon.
Youm-e-Istehkam wa Tajdeed-e-Ahd-e-Nau will be observed on the 8th of October.
Youm-e-Tasees of the Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir will be marked on the 24th of October. Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Jammu will be observed on the 6th of November, Iqbal Day on the 9th of November, and the martyrdom anniversary of Captain Hussain Khan Shaheed and the death anniversary of Baba-e-Poonch Khan Muhammad Khan will be on the 11th of November.
The death anniversary of Quaid-e-Millat Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas will be observed on the 18th of December, while Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas will be celebrated on the 25th of December. An additional holiday for Christmas, exclusively for the Christian community, will be observed on the 26th of December.
The final announcement for Kashmir holidays related to Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be made by the relevant authorities after the sighting of the moon.
