RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The polling for the Azad Kashmir College Teachers Association (AKCTA) elections was completed earlier today, with Pioneer Panel winning the polls.
As per details, the polling process continued across the state from 9 am to 1 pm, where 1980 teachers exercised their right to vote.
In the Haveli Kahuta district, three polling stations were established, where a total of 38 teachers exercised their right to vote.
In Mumtaz Hussain Rathore Boys Degree College, Kahuta, a total of 18 voters participated in the polling out of 19 registered. While 13 voters in Girls College Kahuta and 7 voters in Inter College Khursheedabad participated.
According to the unofficial result issued by the Election Commissioner’s office, AKCTA, Tariq Saleem Shah of the Pioneer Panel was elected president by getting 1050 votes.
Shah’s opponent, Chaudhry Muhammad Ayub of the Progressive Panel, secured 838 votes.
Dr Zafar Iqbal of the same group was elected to the Senior Vice President seat with 1065 votes.
Apart from that, Pioneer Panel candidate Chaudhry Abdul Rahim won the seat of General Secretary by securing 1023 votes.
Muhammad Aslam, candidate from Haveli Kahuta for Secretary Publication, was declared successful by securing 1033 votes.
Sabika Ikram from Pioneer Panel won the seat of Female Vice President with 1033 votes, Basharat Mahmood won the seat of Joint Secretary with 1043 votes, while Ijaz Ahmed Khan was elected as Secretary Finance with 1047 votes.
The Election Commissioner, AKCTA, Professor Dr. Yasir Arafat, in a notification, said that the final results will be announced after the official counting.
