Shan Masood expresses confidence in Pakistan pacers before first Test
Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has expressed full confidence in the national team’s bowling attack ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh, saying that the team is capable of performing well in different conditions.
The first match of the two-Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin in Mirpur on Friday. The Pakistani team is determined to forget the bitter memories of the last tour of Bangladesh, where the host team whitewashed Pakistan by winning both Tests in Rawalpindi in 2024.
In the pre-series press conference, Shan Masood said that the team is entering the series with full focus and it will not be easy to challenge Bangladesh in its home conditions. He said that Bangladesh has quality players in all three departments – batting, bowling and fielding.
He said, “We have selected a balanced squad that has experience playing on both spin and seam wickets. Taking 20 wickets is the basic requirement for success in Test cricket and we have full confidence in our bowling attack.’
On the other hand, Bangladesh captain Najamul Hassan Shanto said that his team will have to score big in the first innings so that the fast bowlers get a chance to take all the wickets of the opposing team. He claimed that Bangladesh’s pace attack has a slight edge over Pakistan’s.
Opener Tanzeed Hasan Tamim has been included in the Bangladesh squad, while fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has returned to the team after an injury.
The first Test will be played in Mirpur from May 8 to 12, while the second Test will be played in Sylhet from May 16 to 20.
