Awareness session on cervical cancer vaccination held for doctors in Kotli

KOTLI (Kashmir English): An awareness session about the cervical cancer prevention vaccine for girls aged 9 to 14 was held here on Wednesday under the auspices of the Health Department.

In collaboration with the organizations “ACT” and “MERF,” an awareness session was organized for doctors from the District Headquarters Hospital and Basic Health Centers.

The session was chaired by District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Syed Shafqat Shah. It was attended by Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Nasrullah Sadiq, DMS Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Jahangir, and ACT’s Community Engagement Officer, Chaudhry Shahnawaz, as speakers.

Addressing the awareness session, DHO Dr. Syed Shafqat Shah stated that cervical cancer is a common fatal disease found in women, and the preventive vaccine has proven highly effective against it.

He urged parents to ensure their daughters receive the necessary doses of this vaccine, which will protect them from the risk of cancer in the future.

ACT’s Community Engagement Officer, Chaudhry Shahnawaz, mentioned that his organization is working closely with the Health Department to promote public awareness so that girls could benefit from this vaccine.

Briefing about preventive vaccine

Over 20 doctors participated in the awareness session, where a detailed briefing was given about the preventive vaccine. Participants were urged to effectively promote the campaign at their respective centers to spread awareness among the public about the efficacy of the vaccine.

At the end of the session, questions from the doctors were answered, and necessary informational material related to the awareness campaign was distributed.
