ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission SUPARCO has finished the astronaut selection process for its Human Spaceflight Program, which is part of the second phase.
After initial screening in Pakistan, two candidates advanced following comprehensive medical, psychological, and aptitude tests conducted at China’s Astronauts Centre (ACC) under international human spaceflight standards.
The shortlisted candidates will now undergo six months of advanced training at the ACC. The selected candidate will participate in a mission which will take place on the Chinese Space Station during October or November 2026.
The collaboration follows the Astronaut Cooperation Agreement signed in February 2025 under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan became the first foreign partner in China’s astronaut program, highlighting growing space cooperation between the two countries.
SUPARCO officials have announced that Pakistan will conduct a Moon mission with Chinese assistance in 2026, according to the countryspace roadmap.
