CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): Apple formally announced its next grand event on September 9, 2025, at Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California, which is likely to feature the announcement of the iPhone 17 series, new Apple Watches, and other products.
The event is being closely watched to see whether the company can maintain its edge amid rising competition in artificial intelligence.
Apple has delayed a major overhaul to Siri, its digital assistant, which was originally intended to bring it in line with rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
Other long-awaited AI features previously announced have not yet come, so users can’t wait to hear an announcement on AI.
iPhone 17 Air
Rumors are that Apple may release a super-slim iPhone model, just like the MacBook Air in appearance and naming.
While the new phone, poised to be called the iPhone 17 Air, may be lean on battery capacity or camera features, the shift towards a slim form factor may rekindle shoppers’ interest. It will compete with others such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
The iPhone 17 series will feature a standard model, new Pro models, and the potential discontinuation of the Plus model due to low sales.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the iPhone 16 Plus accounted for only 5–10% of Apple’s shipments this year. Kuo also predicts Apple to discontinue the Plus model this year.
Besides the iPhone, Apple is set to launch newer models of the Apple Watch, perhaps with improved health tracking functionality and integration of features with the AI capabilities of the iPhone. But as yet, officially, nothing has been said.
Price of iPhone 17
In Pakistan, the approval by PTA is among the major concerns of the customers in as it guarantees the phone can be used legally over local networks.
The PTA-approved iPhone 17 Pro Max will be at a higher price, given its superior features.
Keeping in view the trends and past releases of iPhones, the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Pakistan can cost between PKR 350,000 and PKR 400,000 based on storage size and the total demand in the country.
