ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): APHC-AJK has condemned the illegal property seizure of Hurriyat leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani by Indian authorities in IIOJK during Ramadan to suppress pro-freedom voices.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly criticised the unlawful confiscation of senior Hurriyat leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani’s ancestral property, worth millions, by the occupying authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC-AJK Secretary Information, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, denounced the action in a statement from Islamabad, calling it a blatant act of oppression intended to silence pro-freedom voices. He pointed out that Indian authorities have already sealed the properties of hundreds of Kashmiris as part of a broader effort to suppress the indigenous movement for self-determination.

He further stated that even during the holy month of Ramadan, Indian agencies have continued their raids on the homes of Hurriyat leaders, activists, journalists, and human rights defenders, spreading fear across the region. He condemned these violations of privacy and the sanctity of homes, particularly during this sacred time, labelling them as deeply regrettable.

He presented a serious message about Indian human rights violations because of Kashmiri forced resident removal from their properties as well as land transfers to non-local entities. The actions target Kashmiris unethically and break international law, so he requested United Nations intervention to prevent India from continuing this practice.

Mushtaq Butt emphasized Kashmiris maintain peaceful values even as India selects them for mistreatment because they want their right to decide their fate.
