MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) Chief Shaukat Nawaz Mir on Wednesday said that it seems that the AJK Prime Minister Anwarul Haq is not going anywhere, referring to the planned no-confidence motion against him.

In an exclusive conversation with Kashmir Digital, Mir said that if these politicians were ideological, they would not have voted for a person without a party as Prime Minister at first.

In response to a question, Shaukat Nawaz Mir said that politicians in Azad Kashmir have lost credibility, as they are only engaged in a “battle for power” rather than serving the people.

“These politicians are no longer so powerful. They are only fighting for power; their faces have been exposed in front of the people as puppets,” he added.

Furthermore, the JAAC leader said that there is no democracy in Azad Kashmir as it has turned into a game of interests, adding that these politicians have no ideology, no vision.

“No corruption allegation against PM Haq”

The JAAC chief added that while he does not issue certificates of good or bad, but no evidence of financial corruption so far found against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq.

Shaukat Nawaz Mir emphasized that the Public Action Committee represents every region, school of thought, social class, and overseas Kashmiri community, and that business and labor communities across Pakistan support their movement.

Mir has said that the movement of the Awami Action Committee is purely non-political and non-ideological, aimed only at securing the basic rights of the people. He clarified that the committee does not criticize any country or institution, and that its sole focus is the welfare and empowerment of the people.

He said the committee’s charter of demands was formed through consultation, reflecting the collective opinion of the people rather than any personal or political ideology.

“We cannot restrict anyone’s ideology, nor is that our domain. Our purpose is to fight the corrupt state system and privileged elite that have crushed the poor,” he added.

Talking about the current issues, Shaukat Mir strongly criticised the Mirpur Board’s e-marking policy, which he said led to the wrong evaluation of students’ papers, pushing some students into depression and even suicide.

“We demand that the Mirpur Board immediately stop the announced results and recheck papers through a neutral third party,” he said.

He also condemned the recent fee hikes at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) and the violent incidents during student protests, urging the administration to find a peaceful solution.

“There is no supremacy of justice in this state — justice is only for the rich. The poor stumble over the poor,” Shaukat Nawaz Mir said.
