ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A 5.4 magnitude earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Upper and Lower Dir, Bajaur, and Malakand districts on Tuesday afternoon.
According to local sources, earthquake tremors were also felt in the Khyber district, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and adjoining areas.
According to the PMD’s National Seismic Monitoring Center, the quake originated at 5:30 pm with a depth of 22 kilometers. Its epicenter was in southeastern Afghanistan.
No reports of any loss of life or property have been received so far; however, citizens have been advised to exercise caution in view of the risk of aftershocks.
Rescue and relief agencies have been alerted, and the administration of the concerned districts is assessing the effects of the earthquake.
