WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US Special Representative Steve Witkoff has claimed that Kazakhstan is expected to join the Abraham Accords and become another Muslim country to establish relations with Israel.
According to a Reuters report, US Special Representative had said at a business forum in Florida, without naming any country.
In this regard, it was reported that sources familiar with the matter said that the US hopes that Kazakhstan’s participation will help reactivate the Abraham Accords because the process was stalled due to the Gaza war.
US President Donald Trump has consistently said that he wants the agreement to be expanded.
The report said that Kazakhstan has diplomatic and economic relations with Israel, so the announcement will be symbolic.
Regarding the agreement, it was reported that Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House along with four other Central Asian countries.
Among the Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have close ties with Israel and are also seen as countries that could join the Abraham Accords, but the situation is currently unclear.
It should be remembered that during Donald Trump’s first presidency, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain joined the Abraham Accords in 2020, and Morocco also established relations with Israel after that.
US President Donald Trump has been expressing hope that Saudi Arabia will join the agreement, and this expectation was once again expressed after the Gaza ceasefire agreement last month.
Saudi Arabia had made it clear that it would not become part of the agreement without clear steps towards the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is expected to visit the White House on November 18.
