JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Highway Department has said that the link roads affected by a cloudburst in the Goharabad area of the Jhelum Valley district in the wee hours of Wednesday have been restored in approximately six hours.
As per details, a heavy cloudburst hit the Goharabad area of Jhelum Valley at around 4:45 am, causing significant damage to four link roads, residential houses, vehicles, and other properties.
The statement said that due to the cloudburst, two link roads have been completely destroyed, which have been made passable with heavy machinery, while two link roads were partially damaged, which have been restored.
The cloudburst had cut off communication to several adjacent villages, including Leepa Road. However, thanks to the efforts of the authorities, the roads have been restored, and traffic access has been made available in all the affected areas.
The administration and rescue agencies of Jhelum Valley district had also reached the affected area early in the morning and started relief activities.

The Highways Department staff, led by the Executive Engineer Highways, District Jhelum Valley, worked tirelessly to restore the roads, the department said in a statement.
With the help of heavy machinery, the team managed to make two completely destroyed link roads passable, while two partially damaged link roads were also restored.
The entire process was supervised by Minister for Communications, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, as per the orders of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.
The administration and rescue agencies of Jhelum Valley district reached the affected area early in the morning and started relief activities. The Commissioner of Muzaffarabad Division and rescue agencies are also busy in relief activities as per the instructions of the Prime Minister.
