RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Dozens of teachers appointed under the National Testing Service (NTS) through a stop-gap agreement in the Education Department of Azad Kashmir have demanded the restoration and permanentization of the waiting merit list.
The teachers, who were appointed after passing a competitive exam, claim that they have been facing uncertainty and mental torture due to the temporary nature of their appointments.
Addressing the press conference at Ghazi Millat Press Club Rawalakot, the teachers’ representatives demanded the restoration of the waiting merit list, citing the pattern of 2017, 2018, and 2021 as a precedent.
They also sought permanent positions, arguing that their temporary appointments are detrimental to their future and the future of their families.
The teachers argue that the temporary appointments are not only affecting their own lives but also the education system, as they are being forced to work in uncertainty.
They warn that if their demands are not met, they will be forced to approach the court, which could lead to further delays and complications.
The teachers’ representative said, “We have already resigned from various important posts and gone to NTS. After qualifying NTS, we reached here on the basis of our ability and capability, and now our future is being mocked.”
“Ad-hoc and temporary policy is also harmful for the government, under which those appointed under it, if their rights are not given, they approach the court,” another representative said.
They further added that the debris of faulty policies should not be thrown on us, but justice should be done to hundreds of those appointed under the stopgap agreement from all over Azad Kashmir, including Rawalakot, Bagh, and Haveli.
