MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The AJK Supreme Court Golden Jubilee celebrations have been postponed in light of the prevailing national circumstances. The announcement was made during a Full Court Reference held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan.
The Full Court Reference was attended by senior judges of the AJK Supreme Court, including Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem and Justice Raza Ali Khan. During the session, the Chief Justice expressed gratitude to all dignitaries who had accepted the invitation to attend the now-postponed AJK Supreme Court golden jubilee celebrations.
Special thanks were extended to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, and other honourable judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan for their willingness to participate in the jubilee celebrations. Their support and acceptance had been a source of honour for the judiciary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Acknowledgement was also given to the Chief Justices and judges of various provincial high courts, as well as the Chief Justice and judges of Gilgit-Baltistan, who had also agreed to attend.
In addition, the Chief Justice appreciated the positive response from the Attorney General of Pakistan, the Vice Chairman of the Bar Council, the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, and members of the legal fraternity.
Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan confirmed that once the national situation returns to normal, new dates for the AJK Supreme Court Golden Jubilee celebrations will be announced. He reassured all participants that the celebrations would go ahead at an appropriate time, once conditions were suitable.
“I extend heartfelt thanks to all esteemed guests who have confirmed their participation in the AJK Supreme Court Golden Jubilee,” said the Chief Justice.
The postponement of the AJK Supreme Court golden jubilee celebrations marks a moment of pause but not an end, as preparations remain in place for the celebrations to resume once stability is restored.
