MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A recent report by Kashmir Digital has exposed alleged attempts by some forces within the government to undermine President Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry’s position ahead of the upcoming elections.

According to the report, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq and Interior Minister Waqar Ahmed Noor have openly backed efforts to defeat the President in Mirpur in the forthcoming elections.

As per details, Prime Minister and Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor has given a free hand to their personal representative and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Majeed’s son, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, current government minister, for the completion of development projects, speeches, and exchanges in Mirpur division.

According to the report, the top government office bearers have started adopting new methods to humiliate the President of Azad Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood, and hide corruption.

The concerns have been raised over the transfer of powers to Qasim Majeed for development projects in the constituency, ignoring President Barrister Sultan Mahmood and his son, Yasir Sultan.

According to the report, since the Minister of State Yasir Sultan holds a central position in the constituency, the path is being paved for the next election through the government minister.

Earlier, Qasim Majeed appointed a new Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Highway Department in his constituency, LA-2 Mirpur-II, without obtaining prior approval from the Finance Department.

The appointment of a Grade 17 Assistant Executive Engineer can be gauged as to how serious the current government is about solving public problems.

According to political experts, the current appointment was made as a political bribe, which suggests that the path is being paved for the defeat of the President of Azad Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood, in the next elections.
