MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has directed the Health Department to immediately fill vacant positions in Basic Health Units (BHUs), Rural Health Centers (RHCs), Tehsil and District Headquarters Hospitals.
During the meeting with the Minister for Public Health, Nisar Ansar Abdali, and other health officials in Islamabad, the premier directed the concerned department to ensure the availability of doctors, specialists, ambulances, and essential medicines at all hospitals in the state.
The meeting discussed the challenges faced by the Public Health Department and potential solutions.
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said that an additional one billion rupees has been allocated to the Health Department for purchasing medicines, ensuring timely and quality medical facilities for the public.
He said that all relevant stakeholders should be well aware of their responsibilities, because institutional improvement is possible only if each discharges their responsibilities with integrity.
Furthermore, Anwarul Haq directed the formation of a special committee to enhance public access to health cards, tasked with developing comprehensive recommendations for the government.
During the meeting, it was also decided to establish an active monitoring unit to ensure the attendance of doctors and medical staff, aiming to improve service delivery quality.
The Prime Minister reiterated the commitment that the Azad Kashmir government is taking all possible steps to make the health sector fully functional and people-friendly.
