MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Organization (PDO) has taken a major step towards providing affordable and environment-friendly electricity to the people of AJK.

The organization has decided to conduct a feasibility study to identify solar, wind and geothermal energy corridors in Azad Kashmir. For this purpose, a formal request for proposal (RFP) has been issued to procure consultancy services.

Under this project, those areas of Azad Kashmir will be identified where large solar, wind and geothermal energy projects can be set up.

After the feasibility is completed, solar parks and other renewable energy projects will be started in these corridors by the private and public sectors.

According to experts, this progress will make it possible to eliminate load shedding in Azad Kashmir, reduce electricity tariffs and provide electricity to remote areas. This project is part of the Prime Minister’s Green Energy Vision.

Proposals for the consultancy can be submitted until May 25, 2026, with PDO abiding by the rule that only PEC-registered firms can participate.
