MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued strict instructions to all registered political parties to submit their financial statements immediately at the end of the financial year 2024-25.
In a press release issued by the Election Commission, the authority stated that all the parties will be required to submit financial details through Form 40 and Form 41 within 60 days.
According to the Commission’s announcement, it will only accept the financial reports that are audited by a Chartered Accountant and certified by an Authorized Audit Officer.
Political parties have been clearly instructed that any overwriting (torn writing) in the form will not be acceptable, and a copy of the bank statement will also be mandatory to be attached.
The Election Commission has warned that the financial details will be submitted only in person to the Election Commission office. Details sent through post, fax, or courier will not be accepted.
Furthermore, the Election Commission has emphasized that candidates must strictly adhere to the provisions of the Elections Act, 2020. The submission of false or misleading information will result in disqualification as per Section 116 of the Act.
According to sources, this move by the Election Commission aims to promote financial transparency and accountability in political parties. In case of violation, legal action can be taken against the concerned parties.
Additionally, Form 40 and Form 41 will be available free of cost from the offices of the Election Commission, which have been made mandatory for all parties to fill and submit on time.
