MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has released a detailed report on the massive loss of life and property due to the recent monsoon rains in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) report, 23 people died and 28 were injured in various accidents and incidents. 290 houses were destroyed due to rain and landslides, while 1668 houses were partially damaged.
The report states that 33 bridges were affected by floods and landslides in rivers and canals, while 232 kilometers of communication roads were also severely affected. 79 communication bridges were washed away due to the intensification of the flow of rivers and canals, and 169 educational institutions were also damaged.
According to the SDMA, 235 livestock were killed due to the monsoon rains, while 17 panchak (grat) were washed away in the floods of canals. 15 vehicles were also reported to have been swept away by water in different areas, including the Neelum Valley.
Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Department, the weather is partly cloudy in most areas of Azad Kashmir. After the rain that continued till late at night stopped, the intensity of heat and humidity has decreased, making the weather pleasant.
