RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Sardar Javaid Shareef Advocate, focal person for the elected Local Government representatives of Azad Jammu and Kashmir(AJK), and Chairman District Council Poonch, has warned that if the government tried to hinder implementation on the High Court decision through a piece of legislation, they will resist the move tooth and nail.
He did not rule out the possibility of another call for march on the assembly adding in that case, the state will plunge into anarchy. He advised the government to immediately release funds.
He said this while addressing a press conference along with other representatives including Mayor Municipal Corporation Rawalakot Sardar Abdul Naheem Khan; Sardar Iftikhar Advocate Member District Council; and Sardar Aftab Arif at the Ghazi-a-Millat Press Club Rawalakot on Monday.
Sardar Javaid Shareef Advocate said that the government had formed a committee, prepared a joint draft, and negotiations were held with the government several times.
But, he lamented, there was no progress on our demands. “We campaigned for our rights throughout Azad Kashmir, we withdrew the call for the siege of the assembly after the detailed decision of the High Court, but now it is likely that the government is bringing a new amendment instead of accepting the decision of the High Court.”
AJK Local Bodies
He said that after the 13th Amendment, AJKLocal Bodies were strengthened. He said that they were still ready to talk to the government and added the government is playing tricks.
He demanded that the government immediately release four billion rupees in funds because these funds have to be spent by June. “Delay in the release of the funds is tantamount to corruption.”
He said that their demands were in accordance with the constitution and law, adding that the High Court has also supported their position.
“So once again we say that we had postponed the call for the siege of the assembly, not canceled it.”
In response to a question, he said that the final plan of action for the future would be given soon.
