AJK govt vows to upgrade schools, lift education standard

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The government in Azad Kashmir has vowed to upgrade schools, establish new institutions and lift the education standard in the state.

A high-level meeting of the Education Department (Schools) was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Azad Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, in which important decisions were made, including the upgradation of schools and the establishment of new institutions.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Education (Schools) Dewan Ali Khan Chughtai, Minister for Power Development Organization (PDO) Chaudhry Rashid, Advisor to the Government Sardar Fahad Yaqoob, Principal Secretary Zafar Mahmood, Secretary Education Qazi Inayat, and other high officials.

In the meeting, important matters regarding reforms in the education sector through an educational package, improvement of education quality, and modernizing the system were discussed, and various aspects of the proposed educational package were reviewed in detail.

Merit-based allocation of staff at schools

Additionally, increasing the capacity of the Education Department (Schools), improving the administrative structure, effective and merit-based allocation of teachers and staff, and modernization under available resources were also discussed.

The meeting also discussed education-friendly priorities to improve educational standards, and measures to further enhance transparency and efficiency in the system.

A comprehensive strategy was also discussed to improve the administrative affairs of schools, promote modern teaching methods, and provide students with education that meets contemporary demands.

It was decided to ensure the provision of educational facilities in remote and backward areas, improvement of school infrastructure, and equal educational opportunities for students, as well as the establishment and upgradation of schools according to austerity, priorities, and needs.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore said that education is the fundamental pillar of the development, prosperity, and stability of any state.

“The government is serious and committed to long-lasting and fruitful reforms in the education sector.”

The PM stressed for system of teacher appointments based entirely on merit, transparency, contemporary needs, and the principle of convenience and improvement.

He said that students should be enabled to cope with future challenges through curriculum modernization, promotion of IT, digital learning opportunities, and skill-based education.

The government will utilize all available resources to improve the education system, enhance the capacity of teachers, and improve school infrastructure, the PM vowed.

The Prime Minister said that the education system in Azad Kashmir will be transformed into an exemplary, transparent, and quality system, where every child has access to quality education without discrimination.
