ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A delegation of Nutrition International, led by Deputy Country Director Dr. Irfanullah, met with the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.
The delegation included Senior National Program Manager Zameer Haider, Hafizullah, and Imtiaz Ali. On this occasion, Minister for Food Chaudhry Akbar Ibrahim, Secretary Food/Vice Chairman Food Authority Sohail Azam, Director Food/Secretary Food Authority, Abdul Hameed Kayani, Ms. Mehwish Khadim, Shoaib Khurshid, and other officers were present.
During the meeting, Prime Minister of AJK Chaudhry Anwarul Haq stated that providing quality food items to the state’s citizens is the top priority.
He directed that the Food Authority ensure the quality of food items at the division, district, and tehsil levels, for which the officers and officials of the department should work with a missionary spirit.
He said that the coordination of the international organization with the department will increase the efficiency of the department. He directed that the checking system should be continued effectively to ensure the provision of quality food to the people.
He said that the Food Authority will be strengthened at the district level and all necessary resources will be provided to it. He said that the Food Authority, under the leadership of the Food Minister, is doing quality work that is benefiting the citizens.
On this occasion, the Deputy Country Director of Nutrition International said that the organization is offering its services in Azad Kashmir without any compensation, and during which the organization has provided training to 40 food officers.
He said that the aim of the organization is to assist in ensuring quality food so that the citizens are provided with quality and nutritious food.
He said that the organization will also provide further assistance in this regard and will help in providing laboratory equipment so that adulteration of edible oil, flour, salt, and other food items can be eliminated and their quality supply can be ensured.
On this occasion, Nutrition International provided modern laboratory equipment to enhance the capacity of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority, including Qualitative Rapid Testing Kits, with the help of which fortification in flour, oil, and salt can be checked.
With its help, the fortification of Vitamin A in oil can be checked. Nutrition International reiterated its commitment that it will provide more modern equipment to the Food Authority in the future, and our cooperation will continue.
Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq also presented a shield to the Deputy Country Director of Nutrition International.
