MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has given administrative approval to the construction of three new hydropower projects across the region.
The separate notifications issued by the Energy and Water Resources Department stated that these projects were approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in its meeting held on October 10, 2025.
The approved projects include the 2.71 MW Khursheedabad Hydropower Project in District Haveli, 3.0 MW Phullawai Hydropower Project in District Neelum, and 1.95 MW Naushera Hydropower Project in District Muzaffarabad.
Furthermore, the notification states that the total approved cost for the Khursheedabad Hydropower Project is Rs 1271.2 million, while Rs 1089.4 million has been fixed for the Phullawai Hydropower Project, and Rs 1058.8 million for the Naushera Hydropower Project.
The notification added that Power Development Organization will consult with the Electricity Department to finalize the Electricity dispersal mechanism (T&D Network) along with the tariff mechanism for the sustainability of the project.
As per the notification, the implementation of the Khursheedabad and the Naushera Hydropower Projects will be done in 36 months (July 2028). The government has set a 48-month (July 2029) timeline for the implementation of the Phullawai Hydropower Project in Neelum.
