AJK govt provides compensation to families of JAAC protest victims

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has approved compensation and employment for the heirs of the deceased, in line with the agreement signed between the government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).

On October 4, the government signed an agreement with JAAC to end the days-long protest in Azad Kashmir, which resulted in several casualties and injuries.

As per the agreement, the government will provide compensation and government jobs to the heirs of the seven people who died and other injured in violent protests.

As per details, the government has paid Rs 10 million to the heirs of the deceased, while the injured were paid Rs 1 million each.

The AJK government’s Energy and Water Resources Department has also issued employment permits to the heirs of the deceased, which includes five men and two women.

The brothers of the deceased — Sudhir Awan, Owais Rafique, Chaudhry Farhan, and Syed Ahsan Shah —  have been given jobs. While the widow of Muhammad Farid Riyats, Haseeb Tariq’s sister, and Ansar Javed Bhatti’s brother were given employment.
