AJK govt approves establishment of kidney transplant center in Mirpur

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government on Wednesday announced the establishment of the Kashmir Institute of Urology and Renal Transplantation Center (KIUT) in Mirpur, the first kidney transplant center in the state.

According to the official notification issued by the Health Department, the President of AJK has accorded approval in principle regarding the establishment of KIUT in the new Building of the Divisional Headquarters Hospital, Mirpur.

Moreover, the President also approved the nomination of Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Head of the Urology Department MBBS Medical College Mirpur, as a focal Person for facilitation, fundraising, and further deliberation to complete the task.

The establishment of this center will provide facilities not only to patients from Azad Kashmir but also to patients from Pakistan. Along with this, the students studying in the medical college will also benefit.

The public and social circles have praised the government of Azad Kashmir, Dr. Amir Aziz, Dr. Faisal Bashir, and Dr. Ashfaq Raja, for crossing a major milestone in the health sector.
