MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has approved several key demands related to police welfare, two months after the police employees staged a protest across the state.
The notification issued by the Finance Department on Tuesday stated that the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved the demands as per the decision of the AJK Cabinet.
The approval includes a sum of Rs 5 crore for the purchase and delivery of anti-riot kits. The kits include a steel helmet, riot jacket, riot shield, baton stick, ground guard, and elbow pad, e.t.c.
Moreover, a uniform allowance totalling Rs6 crores has been approved. It added that Rs 6,935 per person has been allocated for 8,651 police employees, ranging from Constable to Sub-Inspector.
The expenditure will be subject to audit as per the rules, the notification added.
