AJK govt announces 75% subsidy on olive seedlings

SMAHNI (Kashmir English): The government of Azad Kashmir, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, has announced a wonderful opportunity for people who wish to cultivate olive groves in the area.

As part of the program, the government is providing a massive 75 percent subsidy on olive saplings, making it easier and cheaper for people to begin olive farming.

According to the spokesperson of the Agriculture Department Sub-Division Samahni, the demand for seedlings is being noted for planting olive groves, under which each applicant will be provided with at least 25 seedlings, which will be available at concessional rates under the subsidy provided by the government.

Those who want to plant olive groves can visit the nearest Agricultural Extension Centers of the Agriculture Department, including Bandala, Samahni, Chowki, Poona, and Dal Khamba, during office hours and register their applications.

This project by the Agriculture Department is an important step toward the promotion of agriculture and self-sufficiency, which will benefit local farmers and increase olive production.

Earlier, An information workshop on olive and fruit tree cultivation was organized in Baghsar Bandala, Samahni in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and the Department of Agriculture.

Local political leadership, public representatives, and experts from the Department of Agriculture participated in this workshop, while officers from the Pakistan Army provided their full support for the success of the program.

During the workshop, experts from the Department of Agriculture encouraged the participants to plant olive and other fruit tree orchards. While giving a briefing, the experts said that the climate of Azad Kashmir is very suitable for olive cultivation and by utilizing the vacant lands here, citizens can improve their economic conditions.
